Dear members of the eternal Body of Christ,

May the joy of Easter reign in your hearts in the days to come when the Alleluias will once more be heard throughout the world.

On March 15th, Catholic Doors Ministry received its hand-carved statue of the Pilgrim Virgin Our Lady of Fatima that was imported from Fatima, Portugal. This beautiful work of art, 105 cm high / 41 inches (without the crown), was carved in January and painted in February, 2019 by Master José Neves, a man in his 60's who is a follower of the school of Thedim masters.

José Ferreira Thedim (1892 - 1971) was a Portuguese sculptor. He was best known for having sculptured in 1920, under the guidance of Sr. Lucia, the first 1.10 cm International Pilgrim Virgin statue of Our Lady of Fatima that is found in the Chapel of the Apparitions in Fatima, Portugal.

Like the original, this statue of the International Pilgrim Virgin Our Lady of Fatima, was carved from Brazilian cedar wood.

At this time, a decision has not been made as to what will be done with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Will it be donated to a Catholic Church or school? Will it be given on loan to parishes that wish to promote their devotions to Our Lady of Fatima? Or will it travel like the International Pilgrim Virgin to promote the message of Fatima? Let us pray that Our Lady will enlighten us on what should be done with her statue?

This month, I would like to share something with you. I realized that being on a diet is a blessing - praise God! When you are on a diet, it is like doing Lent all year round. Forget complaining about 40 days of fasting- it is 365 days, day and night. Because of this life of continuous sacrifices, it makes you holier than the others. Sacrifices sanctify the soul. Such a soul learns to appreciate the little things in life. So if you are on a diet, rejoice. It is one of your crosses to Heaven, and it is a big one.
