CATHOLIC DOORS MINISTRY
presents

The January, 2019 Monthly Newsletter
(Issue # 210)

Dear members of the family of Jesus,

This week, I was reflecting on Jesus' title of "King of kings." Jesus came to this world at a time when there were no "President," no "Prime Ministers," no "Mayors," therefore disqualifying the usage of the titles of "President of presidents" or "Prime Minister of prime ministers."

Reviewing all those titles, one takes note that the title of "King" is a lifetime title. You are born a King and you die as a King. All the other titles, Presidents, Prime Ministers, or Mayors are elected positions for a short period of time.

In the case of Jesus as "King of kings", His title is eternal. He was born a King as a descendant of King David, was crowned as a King with the Crown of Thorns, died as a King who gave His life for the life of many, resurrected as a glorious King and will rule eternally as the King of kings. There are no other like Him! Praise be His Most Holy name.

The question that arises is, "What is a King of kings?" According to the online dictionary, a King of kings is a Monarch who has other monarchs under him such as a Lord of lords. He is a Ruler who rules over those who rule a portion of land or territory. This title, "King of kings" tells us that in His eternal Kingdom, Jesus will have sub-kingdoms that will be ruled by eternally appointed kings.

Is this a reference to the twelve Apostles when Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man is seated on the throne of his glory, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." [Matthew 19:28] In the aforementioned verse, Jesus refers to "twelve thrones." A "throne" is the seat of a "ruler." But can someone be a king and a judge at the same time?

In the Old Testament, we read the event when King Solomon of Israel, the wealthy and wise king of Israel who succeeded his father, King David, was called to judge on a matter. When two women claimed to be the mother of the same child, King Solomon revealed their true feelings and relationship to the child by suggesting to cut the baby in two, with each woman to receive half. The true mother, displaying biological motherly love, was ready to let go of her child so it may live. The lying woman agreed to have the child killed. This event tells us that in God's original plan of establishing kingdoms on earth, their rulers were to be kings and judges over their people.

What can be concluded from all of this? It can be concluded that if you persevere to the end and are adopted as a child of God, when you go to Heaven, you will be associated with one the heavenly kingdoms. The kingdom to which you will belong may not be the same kingdom to which all your family members or your friends will belong to. Jesus, before He created you, decided in which kingdom He would place you. So now you know a little more about the mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven.

As we enter the month of February, the month set aside for devotions to the Holy Family, let us pray to Jesus, Mary and Joseph, asking them to assist us in our needs to persevere in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic faith so all our words and actions will glorify God the Father. Have a blessed month of February.

In the love of Jesus and Mary,

Jonn Miller,
Webmaster.
