Dear followers of the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ,
This month, I would like to draw your attention to the martyrdom of Catholic priests around the world. In the last 30 days, the Roman Catholic Church has lost six of its priests that were murdered under different circumstances.
In Mexico, Rev. Father Moises Fabila Reyes, 83, was kidnapped and found dead a few days later. On April 19, Rev. Father Rubén Alcántara Diaz, 50, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Cautitlan Izalli, outside Mexico City, was stabbed to death. The following day, on April 20, Rev. Father Juan Miguel Contreras Garcia, 33, was shot while hearing confessions.
Since 2012, twenty-two priests have been murdered in Mexico.
On April 24, 2018, in Nigeria, Rev. Father Joseph Gor, Rev. Father Felix Tyolaha and 16 parishioners of St. Ignatius Catholic Church were murdered during the early morning Mass.
In the afternoon of March 29, on Holy Thursday, in El Savador, Rev. Fr. Walter Osmir Vásquez Jiménez, 36, was shot and killed.
These holy martyrs will go down in the history of the Church as servants of Christ who died for the faith.
Please take a moment during the week to pray for the priests of the Catholic Church who are persecuted in many countries, they not knowing from day to day if tomorrow, they will be in this world or in the next alongside the King of kings, Jesus Christ.
Jonn Miller,
Webmaster.
