Dear friends of Jesus,
During the past month, the Catholic Doors Ministry opened a new Chapter in its history. It has undertaken, on an ongoing basis, to seek supporters for a poor mission in India, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kannur. As an example to others, the Catholic Doors Ministry has donated $500.00 of its revenues to support this poor mission.
This $500.00 was donated as 100 Mass Stipends/Offerings of $5.00 each, asking that the priests of Kannur pray for all those who ask prayers of the Catholic Doors Ministry. So if you have special needs, please forward them to me so that you can automatically be included among those for who the 100 Holy Mass will be celebrated during the next little while. I am most grateful to all the priests in India who will receive these Mass Offerings and offer the needs of many before the Altar of Our Lord Jesus. Thank you Lord Jesus for Your priestly ambassadors in India.
Since I first addressed this subject last month, I learned that the mission work in the Diocese of Kannur involves the maintenance of 2 orphanages and a house for the street children. More than 200 children are accommodated. There is also a boarding school for school going children, the building of new Churches, convents to maintain, the management of cultivations as the only source of revenue to the Diocese, parish work, the maintenance of the clergy, the maintenance of the seminarians, etc...
While the above is ongoing, there is a need to expand in the following areas: to construct a home for seniors who are ill treated and neglected, the construction of a Cathedral Church for the Diocese, the construction of a retreat centre for the priests, religious and lay people, a residence for the cultivation manager (priest) who raises the funds for the Diocese and his staff in the field, a seminary villa for the seminarians, and the construction of houses for the homeless, each of these homes requiring a minimum of $2,000.00 each.
None of these will be accomplished unless the Lord Jesus moves the hearts of many to give generously for these good causes among the poorest of the poor. A donation of $5.00 supports a priest for one day and blesses you with the celebration of a Holy Mass to your intention. Can you help?
For those who feel most generous, wanting to donate for the building of a Church or the Cathedral, or whatever reason you have on your mind, I can contact the Diocese of Kannur and find out how much specifically would be needed for specific projects.
Unfortunately, once you send a donation to India to support our Catholic priests, you do not qualify for a Tax Exempt Receipt. Receipt cannot be issued by one country for the purpose of Tax Exemption in another country. To work around this, I believe that if you approach your local Church and ask if it would receive the donations, issue Tax Exempt Receipt to the donors and then forward the donation to India, you may qualify for a Tax Receipt under these circumstances. While doing this, you would have the opportunity to encourage others to also support the Diocese of Kannur, combining all your donations in one large sum.
All the information about the Diocese of Kannur can be found by Clicking here. At the bottom of the webpage, you will find a convenient Form that you can use to send Mass Offerings/Stipends and another Form for donations. Where it says, "How to send funds to the Diocese of Kannur," you will find the address of the Bishop of Kannur where you can mail your cheque.
I would like to maintain an ongoing record of pledges and/or money sent to India to help this poor mission. I have a webpage that already mentions the $500.00 sent during September, 2008. If you wish, you can remain anonymous. All I need is the amount that you intend on sending or have mailed. Once the money has been received in India and cleared through their Bank, it will appear on the webpage called "Funds Raised."
I challenge other countries to match the amount of the donation of Catholic Doors Ministry (Canadian online ministry). May the Holy Spirit move all His children to give from the heart, no matter how small, for every dollar shall greatly benefit the poorest of the poor. May the Lord Jesus reward you one hundredfold for your generosity. Without you, the Catholic Church in India would not enjoy the spiritual growth that it is intended to enjoy.
In the love of Jesus and Mary,
Jonn,
webmaster.
