Dear friends of the Catholic Doors Ministry,
I trust that the transition from the old year to the new year has gone smoothly for all of you. My prayers are with those who continut to persevere in the 2007 resolutions to which they have committed themselves. May their perseverance transform itself into a reality as the months come and go.
Today, I would like to cover the subject of how the Catholic Doors Ministry survives. From time to time, visitors write and ask, "How do you survive? It must cost a lot in wages to maintain such a large website."
The truth of the matter is that the Catholic Doors Ministry is a work of love. The website is maintained by one person, myself, as a volunteer. There never has been any paid wages involved in this online ministry.
The Catholic Doors Ministry has four sources of revenues. With the exception of its first two years (1999 to 2001) of evangelization, at which time Fund-Raising Campaign were held, this ministry has not been asking for financial support in its newsletters. By the grace of God, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, revenues have continued to arrive on a regular basis.
The first source of revenues consists of Bible Courses. Whenever a student registers for a course by correspondence and pay the $7.00 Registration Fee, the Catholic Doors Ministry makes a profit of about $4.00. Postage, especially to oversea countries, uses up a large portion of the fee.
The second source of revenues is generated from the sale of the entire website on CD's and DVD's. $19.95 is charged for a copy in either format. From that amount, approximately $5.00 to $9.00 goes towards postage, packing and the cost of the disk. This still leaves a little bit of profit.
The third source of revenues comes from donations. From time to time, the Catholic Doors Ministry will receive a donation, either under separate cover, or in addition to the above service. Some students feel that the Bible Course fees are too low and will send $10.00 per course, therefore making a donation of $3.00 each time they register for a course.
The last source of revenues is raised through earned commissions. When the Catholic Doors Ministry promotes a retail outlet, if a sale is generated from this website, a commission is usually received. Such commissions vary from 5% to 10% depending on the merchant.
For a sale to be generated through this website, the visitor must click on a "banner" or "link" that is found on this website, that "banner" or "link" then taking the visitor to the retailer's website. If the visitors clicks on a link on this website and then visits another website and clicks on their link to the same supplier, the other website will get the commission. It is important that the visitor comes directly from this website to the merchant in order for this website to qualify for the commission. The same applies with repeated Orders of goods.
Some merchants provide a telephone number so you can place your Order by telephone. If the Order is placed by telephone, the Catholic Doors Ministry does not qualify for the commission because the retailer has no way of determining where the buyer saw the advertisement.
Some of the new suppliers that are presently listed on the Fund- Raising webpage of the Catholic Doors Ministry are: "The Catholic Company," "Catholic Memorials," and "Aquinas and More Catholic Goods." I am presently waiting to hear from our suppliers so I can list links to their religious goods. May February be a blessed month for all of you.
In the love of Jesus and Mary,
Jonn,

RELIGIOUS GOODS STORES
During the past year, the Catholic Doors Ministry has received an increased number of inquiries from visitors who wanted to purchase rosaries and other religious goods. While such supplies were available from the merchants that were listed on our fund-raising webpage, it was not always that easy to locate the goods on the merchant's websites.
Therefore, in January, 2007, I have started to add to the website a list of retail suppliers of religious goods. These merchants provide a very large variety of religious goods, from books to statues, apparels and Bibles to Gifts, Jewelry, CD's and Tapes. While the goods of some merchants may be identical, their prices or shipping location may vary. Buyers should keep all these matters in consideration when doing their purchases.
You may view the suppliers of religious goods at:
