Dear friends of Jesus,
With the arrival of the month of October, the faithful will realize that most Gospel Readings are taken from the Gospel of Luke. They stretch from Chapter 9, Verse 51 to Chapter 13, Verse 21. The Gospel of Luke is the first of a two-part work that includes the Acts of the Apostles. The purpose of the Gospel of Luke is to show that Christ came to save the whole world, not just the Jews or the Gentiles, but all who will answer His calling.
From the reading of these Chapters, you will hear of a Samaritan village refusing to receive Jesus, about the mission of the seventy, the woes to the unrepentant cities, the Parable of the Good Samaritan, the Lord's Prayer, about perseverance in prayer, Jesus denouncing the Pharisees and lawyers, a warning against hypocrisy, the Parable of the rich fool, the watchful slaves, Jesus being the cause of division, setting with your opponent, the Parable of the Barren Fig Tree, Jesus healing a crippled woman, the Parable of the Mustard Seed, the Parable of the Yeast, and many other spiritual enriching events that took place during the life of Jesus on earth.
As we continue on our spiritual journey towards the end of Cycle B of the present Liturgical Year, we are called to pay attention to the Word of the Lord that bestows ongoing graces upon us. Each event in the life of Jesus teaches us a spiritual lesson in order that we make become more Christlike in our thoughts, actions and words. Let us join our prayers for each other, that the Spirit of Jesus will enlighten each and everyone of us in the coming month so we can perceive the spiritual message that the Lord wishes to relate to us. Have a blessed month!
In the love of Jesus and Mary,
Jonn,
webmaster.
