Dear friends in the Lord Jesus,
Another Summer has arrived. The children are out of school and most families are preparing for their Summer holidays. The form of such holidays will greatly vary. For some, it means travelling. For others it may mean going to a Summer cottage or participating in a Summer Camp, possibly swimming lessons, horseback riding, or just playing with friends in the neighbourhood.
For the children, the Summer months are supposed to be a time of relaxation, a time to refresh oneself from the long Winter months that restrict many by keeping them indoors during the freezing cold season.
The spiritual life of the Christian can be compared to the seasons that come and go. While there are periods of time when the Christian is spiritually dry, there are also periods of time when the believer needs to review his spiritual growth, seek the assistance of the Holy Spirit for an ongoing increase in his relationship with the Lord Jesus, and once more flourish in his spiritual life.
The Summer months and holidays are not intended to be a holiday away from God. the Christian life is never complete unless Jesus is involved in each and every daily activity. If one is travelling, he should travel with Jesus on his mind. If one is participating in swimming lessons, he should do so with Jesus on his mind. A life without Jesus is an empty life! While worldly pleasures oppose what is spiritual, it does not have to be so. If one separates the worldly pleasures from his spiritual life, then the worldly pleasures oppose what is spiritual. But if one includes Jesus in his daily activities, then all the many Summer pleasures/enjoyments are viewed as blessings from the Lord Jesus and such does not oppose one's spiritual life.
This Summer, include Jesus in your activities. Do all with Jesus, in Jesus and through Jesus. Keep Jesus on your mind all the time. Thank Jesus for all the Summer leisures that He has permitted you to participate in. Love Jesus with all your heart so you may continue to flourish in your spiritual growth. May all of you have a very joyful Summer holiday.
In the love of Jesus and Mary,
Jonn,
webmaster.
