Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Last Sunday, the Catholic Church celebrated the Ascension of the Lord into Heaven. This coming Sunday, we will be celebrating Pentecost Sunday that commemorates the Lord's Jesus' promises, "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever." [Jn. 14:16] "When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you fromthe Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, He will testify on my behalf." [Jn. 15:26]
Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will be with us forever, not just on Pentecost Sunday 2,000 years ago, but today, tomorrow and everyday until the end of the existence of this world. The Holy Spirit is a gift that has been given to all those who live in a state of grace. He makes His indwelling within each of us, moving us to do good works that glorify the Heavenly Father.
That is why we read in The Letter of James that "Faith without words is dead." [Jas. 2:26] Those who live their faith in Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to move within them, they perform good works. Equally, those who are indifferent to their faith or those who have a dead faith, they do not perform good works, nor have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The good works are a sign of the presence of the Holy Spirit within a believer.
This month, let us reflect on how we can perform good works during the coming Summer months. Is there a senior who needs help with grocery shopping or cutting the grass? Is there a parent of a sick child who needs a break for a few hours? The potential of performing good works is endless... for the Holy Spirit inspires and guides those who seek to do so.
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed month during June. May the Lord be with you in all your undertakings. In the love of Jesus and Mary,
Jonn,
webmaster.
