With the closing of the month of April comes the arrival of the month May, the month of Mary. To many Catholics, May is a very special month, one of daily Rosaries or many other special Marian devotions. Some Churches hold nightly prayer meetings that are accompanied by joyful Marian hymns. I encouraged you all to participate in such prayers meetings if they are available in your Diocese.
With the arrival of May also comes the celebration of Mother's Day. It is a time for us all to remember our mothers. For those whose's mothers are still living here on earth, it is a time to display an act of love, be it by presenting a bouquet of flowers, having a Holy Mass celebrated for long life, etc... For those of us whose's mothers have ended their pilgrimage on earth, it is time to remember that we have two mothers in Heaven. First and utmost, we have the mother of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary who is a very powerful intercessor on our behalf. Secondly, we have our biological mother who, in conjunction with the saints, can also intercede before the Throne of the Lord on our behalf.
I pray that May, 2004 shall be a month of blessings to all of you, enriching your spiritual lives so the glory of God may be manifested through each and everyone of you.
In the love of Jesus and Mary,
