Greetings to all my Christian friends,
Another month has already gone by, Summer has arrived and the children are on holidays. This is the time of the year when some parents take time off from work to be with their children, unless they have made babysitting arrangements for part or the entire Summer months.
While Summer is a holiday for many, away from school, work, University, or other commitments, it is not a holiday away from God. God should be the center of one's life during every day of the year, especially on Sundays and holy days.
"The first precept ('You shall attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation.') requires the faithful to participate in the Eucharistic celebration when the Christian community gathers together on the day commemorating the Resurrection of the Lord. [CIC, cann. 1246-1248; CCEO, can. 881 # 1, # 2, # 4] (C.C.C. # 2042)
"The Church obliges the faithful 'to take part in the Divine Liturgy on Sundays and feast days' and, prepared by the sacrament of Reconciliation, to receive the Eucharist at least once a year, if possible during the Easter season. [OE 15; CIC, can. 920] But the Church strongly encourages the faithful to receive the holy Eucharist on Sundays and feast days, or more often still, even daily." (C.C.C. # 1389)
The faithful can only be excused from participating in the Eucharist on days of obligation when there is a serious reason. A serious reason consist of illness, the care of infants or having been dispensed by one's own pastor for a valid reason. Those who fail to meet this obligation, they commit a grave sin. (C.C.C. 2181)
"Anyone who is conscious of grave sin may not celebrate Mass or receive the Body of the Lord without previously having been to sacramental confession, unless there is a grave reason and there is no opportunity to confess; in this case the person is to remember the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, which includes the resolve to go to confession as soon as possible." (Canon Law # 916)
Having said this, let us move on to what has been accomplished on the Catholic Doors Ministry website during June.Towards the end of the month, five July homilies were added to the website. These are:
July 07, 2002 - 14 th Sunday of Ordinary Time
July 14, 2002 - 15 th Sunday of Ordinary Time
July 21, 2002 - 16 th Sunday of Ordinary Time
July 26, 2002 - Saints Anne and Joachim

To view the entire index of the homilies, please visit: http://www.catholicdoors.com/homilies/index.htm
Regarding the Catechism that is found on our website, efforts were made to complete the "Subject Index" during the month. Due to the limited amount of time available to the web designer, only letters "C" to "M" have been completed. Letter "N" is partially done. This project should be completed during July. Regarding our goal to raise $1,500.00 for this year's operating budget, $ 1,047.94 has been raised as of the end of June. This represents 69.4% of our goal. Those who feel moved by the Holy Spirit to share their wealth, may do so by sending a donation to:

A new Bible Course was added to our series of Catholic Bible Course. The new one is called "Salvation and the Catholic Church." Its main purpose is to reflect the Catholic teachings of how some souls can be saved outside the Catholic Church. This information is excellent resource material for those who have to prepare homilies and who wish to preach on this subject. To view the course, please visit:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/courses/salvatio.htm.
In the same category, the course "Baptism in the Catholic Church" and its Exam have been revised to reflect a more accurate Catholic teaching on salvation.
Also, a sample of the Certificate issued to the Honour Students (who register to have their courses corrected) has been added to the website. It can be viewed at:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/courses/certify.htm.During the past two months, the website owners of a handful of Catholic websites took the extreme liberty of placing direct links to our icon graphics so they would be displayed on their webpages when visitors download their webpages. Consequently, during June, all our icons graphics were renamed so they would not display on their websites. Normally, anyone can use our icons as long as they copy them on their own website to ensure that they are using their own bandwidth. These individuals figured that they could ignore this policy and that most likely we would not be aware of their abuse. When reviewing our daily logs, it was noticed that the same graphics were being downloaded thousands of times per month on other websites. Therefore their service providers were notified of this illegal activity (theft of bandwidth) to ensure that this practice would be permanently discontinued. To view the icon webpage, go to:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/icon/index.htm.Finally, the Catholic Doors Ministry Guest Book has been updated on a weekly basis, usually on the weekend. Some of the comment logged by our visitors are worthy of reading. They manifest the power of the Holy Spirit who is touching many in their lives. To view the Guest Book, go to:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/guest/2002-04.htm.That is it for this month! During July, you will all remain in my daily prayers, asking the Lord Jesus to protect each and everyone of you and your loved ones. May the love of Jesus continue to flow through each one of you.
