CATHOLIC DOORS MINISTRY
presents

November, 2001 Monthly Newsletters
(Issue # 19)
Greetings from Canada,

Did you know that the Catholic Doors Ministry is a Canadian ministry out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan? Many are surprised when they hear of this! What could possibly come out of the cold North?

November has been another busy month. Ninety-two new webpages have been uploaded on the website. These consisted of Bible Courses, Homilies, Canadian Saints, more French Prayers, links to worldwide homilies, etc... You will find all the information below.

At the end of this page, you will find two links to free Anti-Virus programs. I know that viruses are a major concern among our visitors and many cannot afford the expensive Anti-Virus programs. The programs that are listed, the Catholic Doors Ministry has tested them and they are 100% effective. I pray that those who have no Anti-Virus programs, that they will take advantage of these free services that provide regular updates.

At present, around 200 visitors are signed up for the monthly newsletter.

The website statistics have not been updated since the end of June because of problems that our website provider has been experiencing. They have now loaded a new program that is processing our daily logs. Hopefully this will be completed in December and our statistics webpage will be updated. At present, the Catholic Doors Ministry enjoys about 900 visitors on Sundays (low days) and about 1,300 or more visitors during weekdays.

The downloading of homilies has seen a tremendous growth in the last few weeks. During the earlier part of the year, approximately 6,000 homilies were downloaded during the month. This has now seen a jump to approximately 9,000 homilies during November.

The Annual Fund-Raising project has had a slow start. Please join your prayers to mine so the Lord Jesus will provide the financial needs of the Catholic Doors Ministry during the coming year.

As always, please be assured of my ongoing prayers for all of you, that the Spirit of Christ will continue to guide you in your spiritual growth for the glory of the Heavenly Father.

Finally, may I remind you that the Catholic Doors Ministry provides a large variety of free postcards that you can send by email to your friends. Also, there is a beautiful selection of Christmas Cards to choose from. Click here to send one.

Annual Fund-Raising Campaign
@ http://www.catholicdoors.com/funds2.htm

As of the end of November, 2001, the Catholic Doors Ministry has only raised $308.00 of the $ 1,500.00 it seeks to raise to continue to operate in the next fiscal year. It is believed that the Anthrax fear is having an impact on our American website visitors and supporters. I pray that in the coming months, the Spirit of Jesus will guide many to put in the mail a cheque of any amount to support this praiseworthy cause. Contributions can be mailed to:

Catholic Doors Ministry,
P. O. Box 7615,
Saskatoon, SK,
S7K 4R4, Canada.

Bible Courses
@ http://www.catholicdoors.com/courses/index.htm

Two new Bible Courses and their Exams have been added to the website during the month of November.

(1) The first courses, "Sunday, A Day Of Obligation" provides the references from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Canon Law to support that failure to attend Mass on Sunday is a mortal sin. The course also refers to Vatican documents that state the substitution of Sunday Mass for a Lay Ministry is not acceptable when there is a local Church within reasonable distance.

(2) Have you ever wondered about the "The Rite Of Christian Initiation Of Adults?" This course will guide you through the steps of the R.C.I.A. so you may become familiar with the Catholic Church program and its terms.

FREE ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS
With the increase number of viruses on the Internet, over and above the cost for anti-virus programs, some also charging additional monies for the updates, the solution is to turn to the free anti-virus programs that are just as effective as the costly ones.

I am aware of two different anti-virus programs that you can use. Both of them have been tested during the last month and have proven themselves to be very effective. Note: Anti-virus programs are only effective as long as you update the programs so they include the latest viruses. Here they are:

(1) AVG 6.0 Free Edition
from http://www.grisoft.com

This program is downloaded on your computer. It notifies you when there are updates so you may upload them. Updates are about 5 MB each. Depending on the speed of your modem and internet service, it could take 2 to 12 minutes to download the program and the regular updates.

The program monitors your moves on the computer and tells you if you are about to open a file that contains a virus so you may delete it.

(2) PC-cillon (Download or House Call)
from http://housecall.antivirus.com

With this program, you have two choices. You can download the program on your computer as an anti-virus program or you can go to the website and download a 5 MB file that will check your computer to see if it has a virus on it. That is why they call it "House Call." The 5 MB file will remain on your computer so that when you return to the website to do another House Call, you will only have to upload the updates (if applicable), this saving the amount of time required to virus scan your computer.

This website will provide you with a list of all your drives and ask you which ones you want to scan. Once the file is downloaded, you can scan online or offline.
