Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
First of all, I am happy to announce that the Catholic Doors Ministry Newsletter that just started 6 weeks ago now has 60 members, an increase of 40 members during June, 2000. I welcome all the new members and pray that this newsletter will provide them with something of interest for their spiritual growth.
This month, I decided to place the links under each heading in case some of you may wish to click directly to the page of interest.
Last month, I announced that the Catholic Doors Ministry was now receiving 8,000 visitors per month. At the time, our provider was 6 weeks behind in providing us with our statistics due to a crash in the program. When our statistics were updated, it showed that we had over 8,000 visitors in March; over 9,000 visitors in April and over 13,000 visitors in May. The statistics for May came as a surprise. That is a 31% increase in traffic in just one month. Praise God for drawing so many visitors to the Catholic Doors Ministry website.
AWARDS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/awards/index2.htm)
On June 7th, the Catholic Doors Ministry received the "2000 Catholic Website Award for Apologetics" from the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Many thanks to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for recognizing our ministry.
CATHOLIC MARTYRS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/news/martyrs.htm)
With all the negative news about the Catholic Church, it is rare that we hear about the Catholics who have died for their faith. To bring this to the attention of the public, I have created a page that provides the names of many modern days Catholics, including children, who have died for their faith. This is a page worthwhile viewing.
C.D.M. WORLD NEWS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/news/moreover.htm)
We finally worked the bugs out of our Worldwide Catholic News service. We had to determine which keywords would draw the most Catholic News. For example, we had to delete the word "Cardinal" because this resulted in sports news. With the present keywords that are being used, 99% of the time, we are receiving updated Catholic News.
ELECTRONIC CARDS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/card/index.htm)
During June, the free electronic Holy cards webpage saw 13 new midi sounds (music) added to it. Also, a Father's Day page was added. This page will be removed early next month because it is a seasonal page.
ENGLISH PRAYERS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/prayers/index.htm
During the last week, the Prayers directory was completely overhauled because it got too large. Sub-directories were created to separate the prayers by language (English, French, Latin), the graphics, the litanies and the novenas. This will make it easier for future management and expansion. At the same time, because the individual files were moved into sub-directories, anyone who had links to these pages will now have a dead link. They will have to return to the prayers directory, find the prayer of their choice and resave it under favourite. We apologize for this inconvenience but this had to be done sooner or later.
On the subject of prayers, 18 graphics were placed to individual prayers during the month. Added to this webpage were 3 new prayers and 17 Novenas. We now have 37 Novenas for a total 225 prayers.
FATIMA NEWS
New links were added to news articles from around the world.
The following page has the Third Secret of Fatima. (http://www.catholicdoors.com/news/fatima2.htm) At the end of that page, you can click on the link to go to the full documents that was released by Rome.
FRENCH PRAYERS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/prayers/french/index.htm
As promised last month and requested by some visitors, we now have a webpage with 38 French Prayers. A few websites were contacted to inform them of this addition and a link was placed to our webpage. Our daily logs show that traffic is slowly starting up on that page.
FORUM (MESSAGE BOARD)
The Forum has been a little slow this month. At the same time, there were good questions placed on it and some visitors provided their responses.
F.A.Q. (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)
The "Frequently Asked Questions" webpage was started and it now has 5 categories of questions. More will be added from time to time as the need arises.
HOMILIES
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/homilies/index.htm)
Most of the July, 2000 Sunday homilies have been uploaded on the website except for the last Sunday. That one should be uploaded in the next few days.
JAVA APPLETS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/applets/index.htm)
For the Feast of June 30, a new Java Applet of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was added to this webpage. In the next couple days, I hope to add one for the Feast of July 1 of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
MOUSE POINTERS
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/cursors/index.htm)
During June, this page was redesigned so all the cursors can now be viewed by categories such as angels, Mary, Jesus, etc... Also, 8 new mouse cursors were added to the list.
SITE MAP
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/menu.htm)
One of our popular pages is what I call our menu page. I renamed it during June to "Site Map" and redesigned the page. This page contains over 1,000 links to all the pages of the Catholic Doors Ministry. If you want to quickly access any page from an index page that has no graphics, this is it. All the categories are listed in alphabetic order.
WANTED
(http://www.catholicdoors.com/news/wanted.htm)
A new page was added to recruit vocations. This serves as a reminder to those who feel that they are called to a religious vocation to act upon their intuition to determine if God is calling them to the religious life or not.
................................
This is it for this month's newsletter. I pray you will all have a wonderful Summer. If you are planning on travelling, go to the beach, etc... do not forget to say a little prayer to St. Christopher, the Patron of travellers. May the grace of God be with all of you.
Fr. Maurice Levesque,
Director
