Q. 1. What is the Anglo-Israelism Heresy?
A. 1. The Anglo-Israelism heresy, also known as the British Israelism heresy, is the belief that the English people, to a lesser extent the white people, are the descendants of the ancient Israelites.
It is a belief that the people of Western European descent, especially those in Great Britain, are the direct lineal descendants of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. The doctrine sometimes includes the tenet that the British Royal Family is directly descended from the line of King David.
This belief appears to have gained attention since the English Revolution of the 17th century. It increased during the "Christian Restorationism" movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
