Q. 1. What is the "Fraticelli" heresy?
A. 1. The "Fraticelli," also known as "Little Brethren" and "Spiritual Franciscans" were extreme followers of the rule of Saint Francis of Assisi. On the matter of poverty, they viewed the wealth of the Church as scandalous, such invalidating the status of the individual priests. Finally they turned against the entire authority of the Catholic Church.
In 1296 A.D., Pope Boniface VIII declared their group as being heretical. Their existence was mainly in Italy in the 14th and 15th centuries.
