Q. 1. Should Catholics read the Holy Bible? I heard that some priests encourage Catholics to do so while others discourage it, saying the Bible is to complicated for the average person to understand. What should I do?
A. 1. First of all, I would like to indicate that some priests are extremely busy with their ministry. As such, they do not have the time to provide individual Bible instructions to those who read the Holy Bible and do not understand what they are reading.
The Catholic Church recommends to those who read the Holy Bible, that they do so in conjunction with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This will ensure that the individuals are reading the Bible as the Catholic Church reads it. The Catechism will serve as their guide to clarify passages that appear to contradict one another.
