Q. 1. It is said that the Precious Blood of Jesus (Consecrated Wine) is still the Real Presence of Jesus even after it was spilled on the Altar. When does it stop being the Real Presence of Jesus?
A. 1. That is a very good question. Based on the teachings of the Catholic Church, when the Host or Consecrated Wine cease to be recognizable as bread or wine, the Divine Presence of Christ is no longer present.
When the Consecated Wine (Blood of Christ) is spilled on the Altar cloth, the Altar cloth should be rinsed in the Church's sacrarium so all traces of the liquid Blood of Christ is removed. Should a stain remain on the Altar cloth, because the stain no longer is in the liquid form of Consecrated Wine (Blood of Christ), the Divine Presence is no longer present.
Because the Altar cloth has served for Sacred uses, it should be treated with great care and respect.
