Q. 1. How do we know when one is truly sorry for his sins? I think they call they "true contrition."

A. 1. You know when someone truly feels sorry for his sins, whether mortal or venial, when he displays three qualities. These are:

a. sorrow for having offended God,
b. hatred for the sins that were committed, and
c. having a firm determination of not sinning anymore.
