Q. 1. Are non-Catholics saved? I get so many different answers from different Catholics, including the clergy. If everybody is saved, then all Churches must be equal and it does not matter what Church one belongs to.
A. 1. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we read, "They could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it." (C.C.C. # 846).
To answer your question, if non-Catholics wish to remain non-Catholics, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, then they have closed their door to salvation.
