Q. 1. While visiting a sick relative in the hospital, am I entitled to receive Holy Communion when the Eucharistic Minister shows up and presents it to my relative?
A. 1. While you are allowed to receive Holy Communion twice a day, such is only within the Holy Mass. [Canon Law # 917] You cannot receive Holy Communion at the Hospital in the room of a patient. Nor does the Eucharistic Minister have a right to offer the Eucharist to you because you are present.
With the authorization of the priest, the caretaker in the home environment (not the hospital) is entitled to receive Holy Communion at the same time as the patient.
