Q. 1. Why does Lent and Advent both share the same liturgical color of violet? Lent is a time of repentance and self-denial while Advent, is when one prepares himself for the coming of Christ at Christmas, such being a time of joy. Please explain. Thanks.

A. 1. Both Liturgical Seasons, Lent and Advent are a time of penance, when one prepares for the holy days of Easter and Christmas. The time of penance is represented by the liturgical color violet.
