Q. 1. When was Jesus born?
A. 1. No one knows for sure, not even the Catholic Church. In the Holy Bible, we find reference to the event that took place while Herod the Great was alive. "In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea..." [Mt. 2:1] We know that Herod died in 4 B.C. In another passage, it speaks of the census that was ordered by Angustus Caesar in 8 B.C. "In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered." [Lk. 2:1] Based on these two passages, we know that Jesus was born between 8. B.C. and 4 B.C. And we also know that those who arranged the Christian Calendar, they were out by at least 4 years.
