Q. 1.What are the 8 clerical gifts of the Holy Spirit?
A. 1. The following clerical gifts sets the person of the priest apart from the other members of the general population.
1. The man is called by God to become an ambassador of Jesus. (Not everyone is called. This is a special blessing from God. The priesthood is not a career by choice.)
If that calling is answered positively...
2. He is eternally set apart by God to minister to His people.
3. God endows the man with an “Ontological change”that permits Christ to manifest Himself through the priesthood of that person, often without the priest's awareness of the profound mystery that is taking place.
“The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.’” [Ps, 110.4]
Once ordained, the priest is endowed with the following faculties as authorized by the local Bishop...
4. To lead common worship in the Catholic Church.
5. To preach the Word of God.
6. To provide the Sacrament of Confession.
7. To provide the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
8. To bless God’s children and religious objects.
The above includes the administration of the Last Rites.
