Q. 1. What is the meaning of the word "Lenten?"

A. 1. The word "Lenten" is the original word that was shortened to today's word "Lent." The old English word "len(c)ten" meant "Spring Season." Similarity is found in other languages. Today, in the Dutch language, they say "lente". Originally it was "lentin." In German, the word "lenz" (Old High German lenzo), is also related.
