Q. 1. What is the meaning of "mariolatry?"
A. 1. "Mariolatry" is Greek for the service or worship or Mary. (Mari/Mary, latrei/service or worship).
Mariolatry means the worship of Mary with the Divine honors that are due to God alone. The adoration of the Blessed Virgin Mary is absolutely forbidden by the Catholic Church.
For that reason, when one write about the Virgin Mary, the cannot refer to her as "Divine Mary." Divine is an adjective that means the excellence of a god. The Virgin Mary is not a god.
