Q. 1. What is the proper way for the priest to wear the stole? I have seen priests who let it hang in front of them. At the same time, looking at some photos, the stole is crosses in front of them. Has this changed?
A. 1. Since Vatican II, the stole, a long narrow band of material several inches wide and of the same color and design as the chasuble, is to be worm by bishops and priests, over the shoulders and hanging down in front.
Prior to Vatican II, there were different practices. These have been discontinued.
