Q. 1. I heard that the end of the Gospel of Mark is not part of the original Bible. Is that true?
A. 1. In the original Greek text, the last word in verse 16:8 was an unusual way to end a sentence, over and above ending the story of Jesus' life and death. It was obvious to the scholars that something was missing.
It was the general consensus of scholars that verses 16:9-20 were added at a later date in order to fix the problem of a strange ending to the Gospel of Mark. It was also noticed that the syntax and language in verses 16:9-20 were different from the rest of the Gospel of Mark. Such confirmed that someone else added the end to the Gospel of Mark.
