Frequently Asked Questions
regarding
THE BELLS
OF THE CHURCH.

Q. 1. What is the purpose of the bells of the Church?

A. 1. In many communities, the faithful associate the ringing of the bells of the Church with the "Angelus," a call to prayer.

The purpose of the bells is a call to worship. It reminds the faithful that worship is about to begin. For that reason, the bells ring just before the celebration of the Holy Mass. The call to worship also involves weddings, funerals and other services.

Prior to modern communication, in the country, the Church bells were the method of calling the community together in times of need, either sacred or secular.
