A. 1. A "scrupulous conscience" involves one who is being overly critical of himself. Such a person always has a fear of sinning when there is no sin, or is in constant doubt, and/or is in fear of committing a mortal sin when the sin in only a venial one.
Most of these individuals can be helped by the guidance of a trained confessor and humble prayers. In some cases, the person will be referred to professional help.
