Frequently Asked Questions
regarding
MASS STIPENDS,
PRIVATE OR PUBLIC.

Q. 1. What is the difference between a private and a public Mass Stipend?

A. 1. The difference between the two is:

Private: The intention is not mentioned anywhere. In the Bulletin it may say, "Personal Intention."

Public: The Public Mass Stipend is annouced publicly, usually in the Parish Bulletin.

Otherwise, there is no difference as to how these intentions are presented to God during the Holy Mass. Intentions are usually mentioned right after the Consecration of the Host and before the Consecration of the Blood as follows, "Father, I offer this Mass for [intention here]."
