CATHOLIC DOORS MINISTRY

September, 2000 Monthly Newsletters
(Issue # 5)

Dear friends in the Lord Jesus,

Another month is coming to its end and Fall has arrived. It is
hard to believe that 3/4 of the year has already passed.

Based on our current daily logs, I suspect that we will finally hit
the 15,000 visitors mark for September. If we miss it, it will be
by a very low number. At its present rate, September should set a
new record.

During September, 2000, the Catholic Doors Ministry continued its
expansion of spiritual material that appeals to a variety of needs.
A new addition to the website consisted of Catholic games to meet
the need of families with children. These will be listed below.
Here is the summary of this month's achievements:

BEAUTIFUL TEACHINGS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
The above mentioned manual of Catholic Teachings was finally
completed during the first week of September. It can be viewed at:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/teaching/index.htm

BIBLE COURSES
During September, the Catholic Doors Ministry discontinued its
Catholic Bible Courses by correspondence. The webpage was redone
to reflect this change. Three factors led to this final decision.
First of all, the number of students who registered during the past
year can be counted on one's two hands. The response was very
poor. Secondly, the ministry has received cheques that were no
good and Bible Course Exams from Catholics who refused to pay the
registration fee of $ 5.00 and the $ 2.00 processing fee. This
small contribution covered the costs of the Certificates of
Completion, their mailing, envelopes, computer ink and gas to go to
the post office to mail the corrected material. Thirdly, the
Catholic Doors Ministry does not have the funds to cover the
aforementioned costs.

Because visitors continue to download over 1,000 courses per month
(although they are not registering), the material, both the texts
and Exams, will remain on the website as spiritual material for
personal growth. The changes can be seen at:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/courses/index.htm

E-CARDS
During September, Bible verses and doodles (animated graphics) were
added to the free postcard services. Over and above the choice of
coloured background/graphics, coloured texts, headings, stamps,
etc... these new additions provide the visitors with a greater
control over the final outcome of their postcards. To view the
changes, go to: http://www.catholicdoors.com/card/index.htm

GAMES
Towards the end of the month, the Catholic Doors Ministry finally
got around to creating a little entertainment for the website,
something that had been on the agenda all Summer. With a little
imagination and the usage of Java applets, six (6) games were
created for the visitors. These are:

"Ask Jesus!" - Click anywhere on the picture and a Bible Verse will
pop up. There is a total of 64 different Bible verses. This is
something like 'fortune cookies.' Go to:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/ask/jesus.htm

"Help Baby Jesus!" - Baby Jesus is in the arms of St. Joseph. He
wants to go to Mary. Drag your mouse on the picture and watch the
picture stretch. See if you can get Baby Jesus in Mary's arms.

"Catholic Java Applet Puzzle of Jesus."
Here is a puzzle of a couple dozen pieces of Jesus with the Crown
of Thorns. Can you move the pieces into their proper place?
http://www.catholicdoors.com/games/puzzle01/index.htm

"Tic-Tac-Toe"
Here is your chance to play Tic-tac-toe against St. Francis (the
computer). You are St. Theresa. Can you win against St. Francis?
http://www.catholicdoors.com/games/tictac/index.htm (DIFFICULT)
http://www.catholicdoors.com/games/tictac/index2.htm (EASY)

"Wipe The Glass"
Behind the dusty pictures, 3 of them, there are holy pictures. You
choose from 12 possibilities to decide which picture is behind the
dust on the glass. Then, wipe the glass and see if you are right.
You slide your mouse on the picture to remove the dust.

JAVA APPLETS
The 8 Java applets (holy pictures with moving water) that are found
on the website of the Catholic Doors Ministry have been programmed
so visitors can now email those pages to their friends. Upon
receiving their email, the receiver clicks on the path and is taken
to the page. To view this change, go to:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/applets/index.htm

JAVA E-CARDS
Eight (8) Java E-Cards were added to the present 120 Holy E-cards
that are available to visitors. The popularity of Java Cards has
been growing and it was felt the Catholic Doors Ministry should
have some of these to meet that particular need. Please see:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/card/java/cards20.htm

LITURGICAL CALENDAR
The October, 2000 Liturgical Calendar is now available for viewing
at: http://www.catholicdoors.com/liturgy/index.htm

NEWS
In the left column of the main page, three new categories of news
have been added.

1) There is "Catholic News" provided by the Catholic Doors
Ministry.

2) There is "CCCB" which stands for "Canadian Catholic Conference
of Bishops" news.

3) And there is "RCR" which stands for "Traditional Catholic
Reflections" news.

POETRY
A new webpage was created on which was placed the link to 36
different pieces of spiritual poetry. All the pages were
programmed to allow visitors to email them to their friends. To
view this new addition, go to:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/poetry/index.htm

PRAYERS
A few more prayers were added to the Prayer Webpage during the
month. These consist of:

The Scala Santa Devotion;

http://www.catholicdoors.com/prayers/english/p02500.htm

WAY OF THE CROSS
The webpage of the Stations of the Cross received a face lift
during September. Now, all the Stations of the Cross are on one
page. The spiritual poetry was removed and placed as a separate
webpage with additional poetry that was found in the free postcard
service. To see the change, go to:
http://www.catholicdoors.com/cross/index.htm

This concludes the work of the Catholic Doors Ministry during
September, 2000.

During October, in response to the inquiries of many visitors,
a webpage called, "Is It Catholic?" is being prepared. With so
many who are making claims of receiving 'heavenly messages,' who
knows which ones are recognized by the Catholic Church and which
ones have been condemned? This is a major project which demands
a lot of time to investigate a number of 'locutionists,' 'seers,'
and 'visionaries.' It is expected that the webpage will begin
with 8 cases that are commonly known around the world.

Other than the November "Liturgical Calendar" and "Homilies," it is
unsure as to what will follow. At this time, we will just have to
leave it in the hands of the Holy Spirit to see what He inspires us
to do for the Lord Jesus to be glorified in our humble ministry.

Everyday, you are remembered in my daily celebration of the Holy
Mass and recitation of the Holy Rosary. Through the intercession
of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I ask the Lord Jesus to guide His
children to this website, if it is His Divine Will, so they may
find answers to spiritual questions that pre-occupy their minds.
Based on what has been entered in our Guest Book and the content of
a large number of email that is received, the Lord is pleased with
the fruits of the Catholic Doors Ministry. Please pray for this
ministry, that it may always bear fruits that are pleasing to the
Lord, and hopefully, He will provide a means for us to financially
secure the ministry in the coming year. May the grace of God be at
work in all of you during your October daily activities.

In the love of Jesus and Mary,

Fr. Maurice Levesque
