DISPOSING OF HOLY WATER

Q. 1. Last year, my family got some Holy Water in a jar from the Catholic Church. This Holy Water is now one year old. We have not used it all. What is left over has turned misty and we would like to dispose of it. How do we get rid of it?

A. 1. Because Holy Water is a Sacramental, when it gets to old to the point where it can no longer be used as a Sacramental, it should be returned to the earthly elements. To prevent desecration, Holy Water cannot be thrown in the sink, the tub or outside on the grass. It should be poured into a holy that has been dugged in the earth, in a location where no one will walk over it.
